Reds Shut Out Yankees
|
Fans who gathered at Yankee Stadium saw a good contest between the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees.
The Reds grabbed a win, 2-0, at Yankee Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from New York pitcher Jim Abbott. Abbott went 9 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Todd Worrell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 25 save opportunities.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Reds had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the sixth, when center fielder Eric Davis hit a run-scoring double. The double came off Jim Abbott and made the score 2-0, Reds. Davis was 2-4 with a double.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Davis.
The Reds bumped their record to 75-68 with this latest triumph.
