Giles Hits 2 home runs in Cardinals Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Kansas City Royals, 3-1, with left fielder Brian S Giles playing a big role. Giles was 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Cardinals in the win. Steve Chitren converted his 26th save in 32 tries. The Cardinals bumped their record to 72-71 with this latest triumph.
In the bottom of the sixth, Giles had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run home run off Rheal Cormier that staked the Cardinals to a 3-1 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Giles. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
