Expos Solve Mets, 3-2
|
The Montreal Expos did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the New York Mets at Olympic Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Chris Nabholz, who captured player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Nabholz surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ed Correa earned his 25th save in 32 chances.
Leo Gomez aided the Montreal cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Nabholz said after the game.
The Expos, now 94-50, have won 6 in a row.
