Blue Jays Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Baltimore pitcher Dwight Gooden gave the Blue Jays all they could handle, but in the end, Toronto left Memorial Stadium with a 2-1 win. Gooden allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 9 innings. Toronto occupies third place in the United League East Division at 83-60.
In the top of the tenth, Tony Womack had a big run-scoring single off Roger McDowell. With the single, the Toronto second baseman put his team in front, 2-1. He went 1 for 5 in the contest.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Baltimore skipper Daniel Ward, "and it cost us."
