Streaking Royals Win Another One
|
The Texas Rangers got a superb performance from third baseman Chipper Jones. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Kansas City. The Royals won the game, 6-4. In spite of the loss, Jones was named the player of the game. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kevin Tapani picked up the win, improving his season record to 16-7. He struck out 2 in 6.1 innings. The first-place Royals have won 7 in a row.
Ray Lankford, the Kansas City pinch hitter, contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 4-3, Royals. For the game, Lankford was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Lankford.
