Orlando Devil Rays starter John Smoltz turned in an exceptional performance against the Florida Marlins at Orlando Citrus Bowl, resulting in a Orlando win, 4-2. Frank DiPino, credited with the save, is now 19 for 24 in save opportunities. The Devil Rays bumped their record to 76-70 with this latest triumph.

A key moment came with no one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when Devil Rays designated hitter Paul O'Neill hit a fastball from Kevin Appier for a run-scoring double, putting Orlando up, 3-2.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Smoltz said.
