White Sox Score Late to Upend Cubs, 4-2
|
Chicago White Sox starter Jay Tibbs was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. Even with the win, the White Sox have a dismal 50-95 record.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Chicago designated hitter Dwight Smith, facing Teddy Higuera, had a 2-run home run. It gave the White Sox the 4-2 win.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Smith told the Chicago Times. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
