Creams Lose to Cubs, 7-6
|
The Chicago Cubs overcame a good performance by Milwaukee second baseman Mark Loretta to knock off Milwaukee, 7-6, at Wrigley Field. Loretta went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Dunne earned the win to go to 3-7. He allowed 5 earned runs on 10 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Alberto Reyes notched his 7th save in 13 chances.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Milwaukee hurler Kenny Rogers, Randy Velarde hit a 2-run double. The Cubs went on to win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Velarde.
Chicago is now 65-81, Milwaukee 82-64.
