Dodgers Subdue Detroit, 5-3
|
Los Angeles pitcher Lance Painter did his part in helping his team beat the Detroit Tigers, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jerry DiPoto sewed up the save, his 5th. The Tigers fall to 13-16 and continue their uneven start to the 1995 season.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Jerry DiPoto didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Detroit trailing 5-3, DiPoto retired Albert Belle to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said DiPoto, with a wink.
