Boston Loses, 11-8, Despite Bonds Performance
|
The inspired effort of Boston left fielder Barry Bonds was not enough to prevent a 11-8 loss to the Orlando Sun Rays. Bonds hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Orlando goes to 85-61. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
Orlando took a 7-6 lead on John Elway's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Elway hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Milt Hill shaking his head.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Elway told the Orlando Bulletin.
