Knights Fall to Thomas, Twins

The Minnesota Twins thumped the Charlotte Knights, 8-1, at Comiskey Park. Frank Thomas was a big reason his team got the win. Thomas went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Hideo Nomo went 8.2 innings for Minnesota to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 earned run. He scattered 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record improves to 8-11. The Twins now have a mark of 65-81.
One important at-bat came with the bases empty in the top of the first inning. Facing Charlotte hurler Jaime Navarro, Darin Erstad, who is a two-time All-Star, hit a triple. The Twins went on to win.
Erstad said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
