Stairs Hits 3 home runs in Reds Win
In a high-scoring game between Cincinnati and Chicago, designated hitter Matt Stairs was a difference-maker. The 28-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 20-10 Cincinnati win. He slugged 3 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 6. Cincinnati reliever Allan Anderson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Joe Magrane took the loss. Cincinnati is second in the Federal League East Division with a record of 83-65.

Stairs had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the fourth when the top prospect hit a 3-run home run. The home run gave Cincinnati the lead, 8-5. It was his 29th home run of the season.

"We got the victory," said Stairs. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
