Spiders Stay Hot, Beat Royals
|
The Cleveland Spiders did just enough to sneak past the Kansas City Royals, 6-5, at Royals Stadium. Cleveland first baseman Mark Sweeney earned player of the game honors. Roberto Hernandez, credited with the save, is now 7 for 8 in save opportunities. The 4th-place Spiders now have a 5-game winning streak.
Momentum swung to the Spiders in the top of the second, when Sweeney hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Spiders into the lead, 2-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Cleveland skipper Wilson Ogle. "I like the energy they're playing with."
