Marlins Clip Twins in Tight Contest
|
The Florida Marlins defeated the Minnesota Twins, 5-3, in Federal League action at Metrodome, with Florida pitcher Al Leiter named player of the game. The Marlins now have a record of 85-62 with the win over Minnesota.
Florida used the timely hitting of Todd Walker to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marlins on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I really like what we did out there today," Walker said after the game.
