Pilots Come Back Late to Top Senators
Seattle Pilots starter Wally Whitehurst pitched a strong game against the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium, leading the Pilots to a 6-2 win. The win was Darren Holmes's in relief. His record improves to 6-5. John Burkett took the loss for Washington. Their 78-69 record puts the Pilots second in the United League West Division.

Seattle took a 5-2 lead on Vinny Castilla's 28th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Washington pitcher Todd Jones in the top of the ninth.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Whitehurst.
