Blue Jays Win in Extras
|
Toronto overcame a superlative game from Scott Karl to beat Arizona, 4-3. The Arizona pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Toronto reliever Dana Kiecker was the winner. His record is now 2-3. Paul Assenmacher took the loss. Toronto is third in the United League East Division with a record of 85-62.
It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Shane Mack, the three-time All-Star . Mack contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning to put Toronto up, 4-3.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Jose Mata.
