Blue Jays Get Close Win Over Pilots
|
Toronto rode a decent outing from starter Scott Garrelts to victory over the Seattle Pilots at SkyDome. The final score was 5-3. Reliever Frank Wills picked up the win. His record improves to 10-7. Bob Milacki took the loss. Steve Shirley notched his 29th save in 34 chances.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Dean Palmer came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Seattle pitcher Greg McMichael, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 5-3.
"This was a good win," said Palmer.
Seattle has now lost 4 consecutive games.
