Senators Get Road Win, 12-5
|
Washington left fielder Carl Everett was a significant contributor in his team's 12-5 triumph over the Oakland Athletics. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Washington. Carlos Perez earned the win for Washington. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. The Athletics, now 8-22, continue their poor start.
Chuck Carr had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the ninth. With Oakland trailing 12-4, Oakland had the bases loaded. Carr hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Oakland would not finish the comeback.
