Valentin Hits 2 home runs in Cardinals Win
|
St. Louis shortstop John Valentin made his presence felt in the 7-1 Cardinals triumph over the Boston Red Sox. Valentin went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The third-place Cardinals are now 85-66, the Red Sox 67-85.
Valentin contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat among others that helped St. Louis get the win.
"We take it day by day here," said Valentin, "and today was a good one for us."
