Royals Get Road Win, 7-5
|
The Kansas City Royals topped the Cincinnati Reds, 7-5, in Federal League action at Riverfront Stadium. The player of the game was Kansas City pitcher Denny Neagle. Mike Stanton got the save, his 42nd in 46 chances. The first-place Royals have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Barry Larkin to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Royals on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Neagle.
