The Kansas City Royals eked out a 4-3 win versus the Cincinnati Reds at Royals Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Denny Neagle, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Kansas City reliever Kevin Rogers, now 3-4. The loser was Felix Heredia. The Royals have an impressive 93-59 record.

Barry Larkin had a nice at-bat for the Royals with two out in the bottom of the eighth. With a runner on 3rd, the shortstop hit a run-scoring single, which would prove important in the Kansas City win.

"We had a good game plan," Neagle said, "and we were able to execute it."
