Red Sox Come Back Late to Top Twins
|
The Red Sox faced a stiff challenge from Minnesota pitcher Hideo Nomo, but persevered to claim a win at Metrodome. The final score was 6-4. Nomo went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Boston reliever Rosario Rodriguez picked up the win to move to 2-0. Hideo Nomo suffered the loss. Trever Miller got the save, his 4th in 6 chances.
Lee Stevens contributed to the Red Sox cause with a productive at-bat in the top of the eighth inning. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run, giving Boston the lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Stevens. "And not try to do too much."
The win boosts the Red Sox to 59-93. The loss puts the Twins at 72-80.
