Giants Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Washington
|
The San Francisco Giants knocked off the Washington Senators, 7-2, at RFK Stadium. Craig Shipley, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason San Francisco won. The third baseman was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Butch Henry earned the win for San Francisco. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 13-7. The Giants saw their record improve to 84-68.
Shipley had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the fourth when the 31-year old first baseman hit a solo home run. The home run gave San Francisco the lead, 1-0. It was his 8th home run of the season.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Shipley.
