Senators Stay Hot With 7-4 Win
Despite a fine performance by catcher Brian Banks, the Colorado Rockies suffered a 7-4 loss to the Washington Senators. Banks was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Washington starter John Burkett was credited with the win after throwing 113 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 16-8. The second-place Senators have won 10 in a row.

The Senators beat the Rockies with some clutch hitting. The home run by Kent Hrbek in the bottom of the second is a good example. With two down, Hrbek gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he came through with the big hit.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Hrbek.
