Tigers Walk Off with Win
|
Behind the bravura of shortstop Shane Halter, the Detroit Tigers topped the Arizona Diamondbacks by the score of 5-4. Halter was 2-3 with a triple. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Tigers. Rigo Beltran, credited with the win, is now 4-8. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 46-106 record.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Halter. Facing Kelvim Escobar with runners on 1st and 3rd, the Detroit shortstop had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!
"Both teams played hard," said Detroit manager Julio Izquierdo.
