Rangers Turn Back Boston, 3-1
|
Texas beat Boston on the strength of starter Kenny Rogers's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. In 7 innings, Rogers surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Texas is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 11th win in 31 games.
Texas used the timely hitting of Milt Cuyler to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Texas manager Sean Norman.
