Senators Lose to Expos, 7-2
|
Montreal starter Pedro Martinez had a strong outing against the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-2 win. Martinez went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 11. His record improves to 19-4. The Expos bumped their record to 89-64 with this latest triumph.
Montreal used the clutch hitting of Jose Hernandez to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Expos ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Martinez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
