Surhoff Hits 2 home runs in Mets Win
|
The New York Mets stopped the Baltimore Orioles, 8-4, behind an impressive performance from B.J. Surhoff. The former first round draft pick made life miserable for Baltimore pitching. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York starter Tom Glavine was credited with the win after throwing 120 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 15-8. New York, now 81-72, holds third place in the United League East Division.
Surhoff had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 changeup from Tom Urbani, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Mets a 6-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Surhoff.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Surhoff told the New York Chronicle.
