Gooden Shines in Gem
|
Today was Dwight Gooden's turn in the rotation for the Baltimore Orioles and he made the most of it, shutting out the Toronto Blue Jays on 3 hits.
The 31-year-old right-hander led the Orioles to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing 2 walks and tallying 12 strikeouts.
"I hope we miss him next time," Toronto manager Jose Mata said. "Gooden certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
His record for the year is 10-16 in 35 starts and Gooden has a 3.16 ERA.
