Sanders Now 2-2 After Subduing Cardinals
|
Pittsburgh played host to St. Louis at the friendly confines of Three Rivers Stadium.
In a well-pitched game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Scott Sanders was superb. The Pittsburgh right-hander was named the player of the game in Pittsburgh's 3-1 win. The win takes Pittsburgh to 17-14.
Sanders was effective for Pittsburgh, seldom allowing the Cardinals to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 111 pitches over 7.2 innings. He limited St. Louis to just 1 run on 1 hit.
"Nothing fazes Scott," said Pittsburgh manager Stephen Ginter.
