Bordick Helps Diamondbacks Run Win Streak to 3
The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Oakland Athletics, 13-7, at Oakland Coliseum. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Mike Bordick, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 4 runs. The Athletics, now 54-100, have lost 5 in a row.

Rondell White had a big 2-run home run for the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning. With Arizona trailing 5-4 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Todd Stottlemyre and stroked the home run to left-center. It was his 24th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 6-5.

"We'll savor this win," White told the Arizona Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
