Cardinals Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|

Hammond got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 2 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. Hammond allowed no earned runs. Steve Chitren closed the door for St. Louis, picking up his 7th save of the year.
St. Louis relied on the bat of Brian S Giles to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 4-0. For the game, Giles had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We put together a nice win," Giles said.
