Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Moises Alou, the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Oakland Athletics, 7-3. Alou was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Diamondbacks. Arizona reliever David West was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Jason Bere. Danny Patterson notched his 38th save in 44 chances.

Bobby M Estalella had a big bases-clearing double for the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning. With Arizona leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jason Bere and stroked the double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 7-3.

"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Oakland manager Jim B.
