Streaking Sun Rays Win Another One
|
Benefiting from Jeff Bagwell's productive game, the Orlando Sun Rays downed the New York Yankees, 7-2. Bagwell was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Sun Rays. Orlando reliever Cal Eldred was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Mark Langston. Allen Watson, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Kirk Gibson had a big bases-clearing double for the Sun Rays in the bottom of the first inning. With Orlando leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Mark Langston and stroked the double to right-center. It was his 27th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sun Rays ahead, 4-0.
Gibson called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The first-place Sun Rays have won 6 straight games.
