Twins Prevail, 4-2, Over Chicago
|
Minnesota starter Hideo Nomo pitched effectively against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Nomo, now 9-11, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Cubs, now 68-88, have lost 5 straight.
With one out in the top of the fourth, Koji Akiyama put Minnesota in front, 2-0, with a run-scoring single. The Twins went on to win the ballgame.
