Thomas Howard had a good game, but he could not keep the Los Angeles Dodgers from falling, 8-7, to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Bank One Ballpark. The Los Angeles left fielder went 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Arizona reliever Paul Assenmacher picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. John Franco shouldered the loss. Arizona improves to 92-64 with the win. They lead their division by 9 games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Arizona left fielder Rondell White, facing John Franco, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Diamondbacks the 8-7 win.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," White said.
