Yankees Lose, 6-2, at Joe Robbie Stadium
|
The Florida Marlins racked up a win at Joe Robbie Stadium, bumping off the New York Yankees, 6-2. Chris Nabholz, who started for Florida, pitched effectively for his team. The first-place Marlins, at 95-62, now lead their division by 6 games.
The Marlins got a big at-bat from catcher Jim Leyritz. For the game, Leyritz was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Florida a 1-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Nabholz, "and today was a good one for us."
