Padres Come Back Late to Clip Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers got a superb performance from third baseman Chris Brown. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Diego. The Padres won the game, 8-6. In spite of the loss, Brown was named the player of the game. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. San Diego reliever Dave Veres was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Bill Wilkinson. Today's win puts San Diego at 75-82, while Los Angeles falls to 82-75.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Vinny Castilla stroked a go-ahead 2-run home run. It was his 24th home run of the season and put San Diego in front, 8-6.

"This place was electric at the end," Castilla said.
