Atlanta got an elite performance from starting pitcher Salomon Torres in taking a 4-1 decision over the Boston Red Sox. Steve Shirley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 10 save opportunities. Atlanta now sits at 76-82, while Boston falls to 69-89.

Trailing 1-0, Atlanta had a change of fortune in the bottom of the second inning. That's when Deion Sanders sent a 1-2 fastball into the stands for a 2-run home run. The longball put the Braves on top, 2-1.

"Salomon is still learning," said Braves manager Will Henderson. "The sky's the limit for him."
