The Twins had to overcome a good performance from Chicago pitcher Brian Holman to claim a 3-2 win at Wrigley Field. Holman went 9 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Kevin Ritz got the win, improving to 12-13. He worked 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. The Twins now own a record of 71-87.
Brook Fordyce had a nice at-bat for the Twins with two out in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the catcher hit a run-scoring single, which would prove important in the Minnesota win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Fordyce, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
