Dominant Performance by Gooden in Baltimore Win
|
Dwight Gooden pitched a gem to lead Baltimore to a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Expos. Roger McDowell, credited with the save, is now 19 for 25 in save opportunities. Baltimore is 5th in the United League East Division with a record of 67-91.
Gooden, who dominated for Baltimore, earned the victory to move to 13-11. He was in control the whole game, scattering 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 10. Montreal batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gooden told the Baltimore Chronicle.
