|
Detroit Tigers starter Jose DeLeon was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Baltimore Orioles, 4-3. Xavier Hernandez, credited with the save, is now 33 for 36 in save opportunities. The win puts the Tigers at 72-87, while the Orioles drop to 63-96.
Kirby Puckett, who finished 3rd in the FL in batting average with .308 in 1987, aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Puckett.
