Hamelin Excels, But Athletics Win
The Oakland Athletics had to overcome a big game from Colorado designated hitter Bob Hamelin to leave Mile High Stadium with a 16-6 victory. Hamelin went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The winning continues for Oakland, with the latest making it 8 straight.

The Oakland win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Jay Buhner. In the top of the fifth, the Oakland right fielder came to bat and hit a 2-run home run. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Buhner said.
