Padres Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Dodgers
|
The San Diego Padres topped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2, in United League action at Jack Murphy Stadium. The player of the game was San Diego pitcher and Kansas City, Missouri native Andy Ashby. San Diego reliever Dave Veres was the winner. His record is now 5-4. Scott Radinsky took the loss. San Diego has now won 3 straight, while the Dodgers have lost 3 in a row.
Tony Clark, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1994 draft, chipped in for San Diego with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
