Canseco Hits 2 home runs in Athletics Win
|
Oakland first baseman Jose Canseco was instrumental in his team's 7-6 win over the Washington Senators. Canseco, who finished 4th in the UL in extra base hits with 68 in 1991, went 3-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Athletics. Oakland is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 9th win in 31 games.
Canseco had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count curveball from Cliff Young, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Athletics a 7-6 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Canseco.
"It's a long season," said Canseco. "We'll keep working to improve."
