Pilots Lose, 6-1, at Mile High Stadium
Pitcher Jason Schmidt was sensational for the Colorado Rockies in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Seattle Pilots. Schmidt received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Schmidt got the win, improving to 14-10. He allowed 2 hits and walked 3 over 5 innings. Schmidt allowed no earned runs. Colorado is now 71-89.

The Rockies used some clutch hitting to beat the Pilots, a good example being the at-bat of Juan Gonzalez in the bottom of the third. With two down, Gonzalez gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he hit a 2-run double.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Schmidt told the Colorado News. "It's as simple as that."
