Late Rally by Reds Secures Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds downed the Boston Red Sox, 6-5, at Riverfront Stadium. The Reds were led by Eric Davis, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Cincinnati reliever Felix Heredia was the winner. His record is now 4-5. Pedro F. Borbon took the loss. Cincinnati goes to 92-69, Boston to 62-99.
Davis had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Pedro F. Borbon, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Reds a 6-5 lead. It was the 40th home run of the year for Davis.
"This place was jumping at the end," Davis said.
