Marlins Take Tight Tilt, 3-2
The Florida Marlins did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Spiders at Joe Robbie Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Miguel Batista, who captured player of the game honors. Bryan Harvey got the save, his 46th in 52 chances. Florida is now 98-63, 6½ games up in the Federal League East Division.

Florida right fielder Dwayne Hosey contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 3-1.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Batista said.
