White Sox Jolt Cardinals with Late Rally
|
The Chicago White Sox topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1. Scott Bankhead was named player of the game for his dominant performance. The last-place White Sox now have a win-loss record of 71-90.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Chicago right fielder Marty Cordova, facing Steve Chitren, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the White Sox the 2-1 win.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said St. Louis skipper Adam Rabel, "and it cost us."
