Victory Pushes Cubs Record to 90-71
|
Chicago rode a good effort from starter Scott Chiamparino to beat the Texas Rangers at Wrigley Field. The final score was 3-1. Chiamparino, now 16-9, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 0, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Mike Stanton earned his 30th save in 34 chances.
Scott Brosius chipped in for Chicago, stroking a crucial 2-run double in the bottom of the second inning. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Scott is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
Chicago goes to 90-71, Texas to 86-75.
