Senators Win in Extras
The Washington Senators did just enough to sneak past the New York Mets, 6-5, at Shea Stadium. Washington pitcher Jose DeLeon earned player of the game honors. The win was Rocky Childress's in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Willie Blair took the loss for New York. Even with the win, the Senators have a dismal 50-111 record.

Also pitching in for Washington was shortstop Alex Rodriguez, who hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th. For the game, Rodriguez was 1-5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Rodriguez.
